As a certified zoo since 2009 and a member of EAZA (European Association for Zoos and Aquaria), Bellewaerde will welcome four Amur Tigers, an endangered species whose only 500 animals still live in the wild.
This arrival comes as part of its breeding programme (EEP) to maintain the population of animal species such as the Amur leopard, the European bison and the Rothschild giraffe.
The Amur Tigers Zeya, Onon, Nanai and Tynda originate from Hluboká Zoo in the Czech Republic, where they were born. They are three female and one male tiger from the same litter and are one and a half years old.
