Les Arcs: a Flocon Vert to strive for excellence

The resort, which has been committed to sustainable development since its creation, has just joined the Flocon Vert initiative, a label of excellence dedicated to mountain resorts: "We want to better formalise our objectives in order to reduce our impact on the environment".

As early as 1968, the creators of the resort, Charlotte Perriand and Roger Godino, were already advocating the preservation of the natural environment.
The latest achievements still illustrate the durability of this vision today: a 100% electric funicular in Bourg Saint Maurice - Les Arcs 1600, solar panels on the roof of the Aiguille Rouge cable car station, the writing of an "eco-book" to raise awareness of good deeds, the annual "Grand nettoyage", a day-long event devoted to waste collection on the domain, which has 200 participants each year...

The awarding of the label should take place at the end of 2020; the resort will then join the very closed club of the six winning resorts: Chamonix Mont-Blanc Valley and Châtel in Savoie Mont Blanc, Chamrousse, Valberg and Les Rousses.

As a reminder, the Flocon Vert label was created in 2011 by the Mountain Riders association, which has been working since 2006 to help mountain resorts move towards more eco-citizen behaviour. This certification is based on 20 criteria classified into four categories: local economy, social and cultural, governance and destination, environment and natural resources.
