Serre Chevalier Vallée-Domaine Skiable is organising an evening conference on Wednesday 26 February at 6pm on the theme of ecological transition. The aim is to involve holidaymakers and the valley's inhabitants on this major theme in order to "Imagine together the sustainable ski area of tomorrow. »
The issues of ecological transition at the scale of the ski area will be addressed: reduction of the carbon footprint, management of water resources, production of renewable energy, preservation of biodiversity, etc. Based on the latest scientific data on weather conditions and snowfall projections in Serre Chevalier, discussions will focus on possible scenarios, the challenges to be taken up to imagine the sustainable ski area of tomorrow and how to contribute to the fight against global warming to preserve the landscape and biodiversity.
Patrick Arnaud, Managing Director of SCV, explains this initiative of constructive and positive exchanges: "The ecological transition is at the heart of our actions; it will require an in-depth transformation of our operating methods and behaviour. It is a collective subject, on which we wish to share the state of scientific knowledge, consult and involve the users of the ski area: professionals, skiers, residents, holidaymakers, etc. ...to imagine together a sustainable future for our mountain activities".
Marie José Pitorre, Météo France Engineer, head of the Briançon Meteorological Centre - Météo France, will provide scientific insight into these issues, notably with the help of the work carried out by the Snow Study Centre (Météo France) in Saint Martin d'Hères and IRSTEA on the reliability of snow cover by 2100 and its impact.
The Serre Chevalier Vallée teams who manage the ski area will present the new challenges to be taken up for the operation of the ski area, as well as the pillars of the ecological transition approach begun several years ago and which is now at the heart of SCV Domaine Skiable's actions.
